Sisterhood represents the women of the synagogue and is a group of enthusiastic, friendly, and committed women. Our goal is to foster the highest ideals of Judaism and to promote meaningful relationships among the women in our congregation. We are committed to providing many quality programs and social events throughout the year. We benefit the community and the synagogue, as well as our own personal and spiritual growth.
Sisterhood provides a collective identity for women. As a group we develop projects in which we are interested and wish to be involved. Sisterhood gives you the opportunity to put your talents, time, and gifts to work for many causes, both large and small. You are able to enrich your congregational family's life, as well as your own. Sisterhood is community action, dinners, special programs, speakers and monthly meetings.
Sisterhood works closely with North Shore Synagogue’s Religious School to provide snacks for special holidays such as Sukkot and Purim, an Oneg for Rosh Hashanah Family Services, and in adopting families for Chanukah.
Sisterhood donates money to the YES Fund through the sale of Uniongrams. This fund provides scholarships to rabbinic students and supports activities for high school and college age youth. Each year, Sisterhood contributes to the Happiness is Camping program, which provides a wonderful summer experience for children with cancer.
Working with others, sharing ideas and forming relationships builds strong ties among women. In a world that has become very complex and sometimes uncaring, Sisterhood is a way of belonging, of being part of a group, of involving oneself in our synagogue and community.
All Sisterhood members are welcome at our Board meetings.
