Preparing for the High Holy Days
Saturday, September 21, 2019
8:00pm Program and Dinner* (members only)
Join our clergy as we turn inward with self reflection and focus our intentions for the New Year.Yom Kippur is often called “The Day of Atonement.” To atone is sometimes translated as “to make amends.” And of course, Yom Kippur is a day of forgiveness both given and received. But if we parse apart the word, “atonement,” we can get to a deeper meaning of the whole day, the entirety of the High Holy Days and a new, profound understanding of what it is to atone.
Atonement can be separated to spell “At-one-ment.” So, to atone is to be “at-one.” We cannot fathomably make amends for something we have done until we are fully accepting of what we have done and who we are.
Join us for this evening of spiritual exploration and self discovery. Leave with a new sense of at-one-ment, ready to face the High Holy Days with a new sense of self.
